The Library of the National Archive of Catalonia is specialized in Documental Management and History of Catalonia of the mediaeval, modern and contemporary periods, particularly regarding the Generalitat and the Catalan institutions. 

It is part of the Network of Bibliotques Especialitzades of the Generalitat de Catalunya (BEG) and follows the models of the Policy of Development of the bibliographical Collection, approved by the Direction of the center on the 15th February 2012.

- Satisfying the usres's informative needs offering the necessary attention and keeping the informative resources updated.

- Preserving the bibliographical collection.

- Contributing to the promotion of research and of studies related to the History of Catalonia, especially of the Generalitat and of its institutions.


Auxiliary library: Constituted by three specialized thematic areas: History, Documental Management and Social Sciences. As a specialized library integrated into the Archive, it facilitates the investigators the necessary bibliographical tools for the desenvoluapment of their researches.

Library of Reservation: Constituted by the bibliographical collections of some of the documental records that the Archive custudies, several produced by numerous personalities, associations and companies representative of the Catalan society of the XIX and XX centuries, from very varied areas. It is also integrated by collections coming from institutions and public administrations, such as the Association of Catalonia, the republican Generalitat or the Institut Escola.
